About

Do you love to talk and listen? I do! So often, work and play both revolve around simple connections. That’s why I work as a spiritual life coach and writing coach. We take our love of words and connection, and make meaning out of them, for our healing or our our art—or both!

My background is as an editor and writer in mass market magazines. My greatest love, then as now, was the intersect between spirituality and psychology, followed as a close second by relationships.

I started as a writing coach during that time, working with individuals and groups to achieve writing goals, everything from getting themselves to write at all, to getting published. In 2015, I also began to teach through Project Write Now, a lovely non-profit committed to helping folks grow and develop through writing. I also continue to offer workshops through other groups and organizations.

Meanwhile, in the 80’s, in my personal life, some things were getting dicey—I was handing my stress by overeating. My health suffered, and I joined first one then a second peer support group that insisted I take my need for peace of mind to something more wonderful and safe than food. Hence, the development of a higher power, which I sometimes call God for short, but that I really sense as the mysterious something that animates and heals people. When my weight and health had been stable for a few years, I wrote a book to answer the question that was so often in people’s eyes and lips: The Hungry Ghost: How I Ditched 100 Pounds and Came Fully Alive. That was the beginning of an ever-deepening inner life that nurtures and sustains me in the delights and challenges of life. I am currently writing  my second book, of haiku, Just This, which I place to publish this year. Poetry, you’d be correct in surmising, is now a great love.

Along the way, people began coming to me for deep spiritual listening, whether or not related to their creativity. And I developed a second, related practice, spiritual life coaching. In private one-on-one meetings, clients feel safe to explore their inner world, their search for meaning and hope. They talk, I listen and reflect. No directing, ever! Always, healing power of lovingkindness, share.

So. What’s your need? To finish (or start!) that memoir, that poetry book? To simply explore your deep spiritual needs and practices? Let’s talk! At the moment, you can find and direct message me on Facebook. (While I work out the bugs in my contact page!)

  1. Dear Gay,
I spent my third grade in Red Bank when my dad was in the army.
    Small world.
I have written a book called “Finding Right Work Five Steps to a Life You Love” and wanted to collaborate and connect with you.

    Warm regards,
    Leni
